I was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1983 and have spent most of my life here. In 2018, I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing and British Literature, which is no surprise since I’ve been drawn to writing and literature for as long as I can remember.
I’ve been writing for nearly three decades, beginning back in elementary school when I filled diaries and journals almost every day. By my early teens, I had branched out into poetry and short stories, and while in college, I branched out further into journalism and consulting when I worked as a Senior Editor for the student newspaper and as a Writing Coach in the university’s Writing Center— roles that allowed me the opportunity to expand on and hone my craft while doing what I genuinely love.
Here at TheJFiles—named after my favorite show, The X-Files—you’ll find a collection of poems and short stories I’ve written over the years. I created this blog because I wanted to chronicle my writings in one location that I will always have access.
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
